Overcoming an Obstacle (and updated monitoring document)

Hi,

So this morning I was having a chat with our VP and it turns out that the board decided to have the grand opening of our school tomorrow. However, I have not heard anything else from the school board (I was able to speak with one of the board members and I asked if I should move the safeTALK presentation to next week).

The board member said yes. This was a little frustrating considering everyone knew about the event and this would have interfered with our event. I'm not even sure if the event is happening 100% but we decided to move it to two weeks from the original date since our back-up date was also taken so we had to move it to November 1st.

Upon reflection it is good that we had a back-up date in minded that upon knowing we had to move our presentation I immediately emailed the guy who is in charge of putting in school/community events online and on a big poster in the main foyer. However, I will have a back-up, back-up date!

Anyways, I feel certain that we tried to mitigate any problem that might occur but we couldn't forsee this one if no one knew about it and I happened to hear about it from the VP (and later my fellow co-worker who came by to tell me that it would interfere with the event). Thank goodness! I really appreciated that.

So as you can see communication from top down and at all levels is very important. Sometimes there isn't anything we can do but accept the situation and find an alternate solution.

This gives me more time to prepare, more time to read up on the literature that I need to and basically makes me feel like I have more time to really have new information that I can share. This has been a little frustrating considering no seems to be communicating until I have been going in person.

Crossing my fingers this date works!
